Regenerating the Alice Town Centre

Alice Springs Town Council is proud to deliver the Regenerating the Alice Town Centre project.

The overarching vision is to ”Regenerate the Alice Town Centre” for the benefit of community, businesses, and visitors.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who provided valuable feedback during the consultation period for the concept design phase.
Your contributions have been instrumental as we now progress to the development of the Detailed Design.

Concept Designs - Our Journey to the Final Concept Design

We are excited to share that the final concept design package for the Regenerating the Alice Town Centre project has been completed. This significant milestone is the result of extensive collaboration, community feedback, and thoughtful design refinements.

This package embodies our commitment to creating a vibrant, accessible, and inclusive Alice Town Centre.

Regenerating the Alice Town Centre Final Concept Design Package

Design rationale

The recommended final concept package has been selected after assessment as to its:

–  Alignment with project vision and guiding principles
– Community engagement outcomes
– Achievement of implementation principles.

The final concept design package comprises a combination of designs from the draft public realm options developed during the project.
The final concept package comprises:

  1. Todd Mall streetscape renewal
    – incorporating an Art Walk feature
  2. New community Space
    – adjoining Uniting Church and connecting via an Arbour Path to Hartley Street

Subject to funding, at least some or part of these optional projects may also be included in detailed design or implementation stages:

  3. Todd Street / Parsons Street connectivity improvements

    – (mostly traffic, parking and linemarking changes)

  4. Hartley Street car park improvements

    – (re-scoped to a lower cost to prioritise useability and amenity)
